Another resident back?

A field visit to Nest 4 found an osprey standing in a windswept nest. Legs well hidden, naturally! But she looked comfortable, preening occasionally.

Is it Mrs 69?

Eventually, she stood a little higher, was blown off balance by the strong wind, then flew off. Not in my direction, unfortunately.

Compare a screengrab from last year with the nearest ‘similar angle’ photo.

the same female?

Both ospreys are large females, and there are similarities in the head markings. But more evidence is needed to be certain.

Elsewhere, 37 and EB had a few encounters on Nest 2 today. EB had been on the nest with a half eaten fish, clearly watching a bird in the sky from time to time. It was 37.

EB made a move towards the new and rather larger trout, but 37 flew off with it.

37 did deliver a fish in traditional courtship style late afternoon. There’ll be more tomorrow on Nest 2. And any other news.
