Aln: the overview

After reaching Albacete on Tuesday, Aln roosted to the SW of the city. She stayed in the area around her roost spot on Wednesday. More about that in the ‘detail’ post tomorrow.

Yesterday, she continued on her migration.

The weather forecast for southern Spain over the next couple of days is for early sun then clouding over, light winds.

Aln lost the chance of a fast migration when she left Kielder just as the wind and rain were about to be against her. She is likely to have a staging post for a few days before crossing to Africa. If she does move continent.

More tomorrow.

Hmmm …… postcards from Spain maybe …… ? Do migrating ospreys run out of impetus or do they make a conscious decision to stay in a ‘comfortable’ location .. and possibly travel on next season?

In 2014, UV stayed in SW Portugal for almost 3 months before continuing south. Even then, he didn’t reach Senegal until the end of January 2015. Most of the 2017 Forestry Commission Scotland juveniles are still on stopovers, scattered between N France and N Africa. There is a huge amount to learn.
