Great news from Nest 3. And can chick 3 on Nest 4 recover?

For the first time in 4 years of breeding, the Nest 3 parents have a 3rd chick to raise.

It hatched early on Sunday so at 1 day old had 2 days of rain to endure. But it it is feeding and  looks healthy. Well done the parents!

A couple of images from this afternoon.

On return from downloading footage at Nest 3 it was a most welcome surprise to see chick 3 on Nest 4 sitting up. The one with its back to us.

hope yet?

It hasn’t eaten yet, in fact there’s not been a fish for any chick since just before 10.00. But maybe chick 3 can pull through, despite falling further behind the siblings.

Oh that is excellent news Joanna, especially after the earlier disappointing news. Some tough cookie if it pulls thru. Come on 69, time for fish. Excellent news from Nest 3 though!
