Nest 2 update

First, our deepest sympathy to all connected with Dyfi Osprey Project whose young osprey Ceri died late last night. Many of you may have been watching her struggle to recover over the last few days on the live nestcam. Very sadly there was no happy ending.

At Kielder yesterday morning spectacular thunder and lightning dominated. And knocked out the Nest 2 camera. Forestry Commission Radio and Electronics Branch are trying to resolve the issue. Prior to that the youngsters had been exercising and preening. And dozing and eating! They are still being fed by EB most of the time but occasionally grab a fish and self cater.

As you can see the recent ‘direct hit’ is proving to be rather water resistant.

Y4 and Y5, the elder two, are the most active exercisers.

Here is a video of all three juveniles building up their muscles and confidence for fledging.
