Nest 3 update

Although yesterday afternoon the female was still incubating the remaining egg on Nest 3 it is well past ‘normal’ hatching time and beyond known “unusually long” intervals between eggs 2 and 3. However the two chicks look healthy and are feeding well. Here’s lunch on 30 May.

And early tea.

The camera ‘caught’ a whole trout yesterday!

At the end you can see chick 1 looking expectant.

A crow proved an irritant yesterday but the female was quick to shoo it away.

During the afternon the male was warning off an unseen bird and eventually took to the air from a tree near the nest to escort it from the area.

The chicks look good ……. lots of ‘bothering’ going on everywhere at the moment ……

Chick two was really stretching his neck bless him. It seems strange to me that so many nests this year having three eggs ony managed to hatch two. I hope some of those can be investigated .
