No news!

On 20 March BirdGuides reported a sighting of two Ospreys at Bakethin, the shallow end of the Kielder Water reservoir. Second line at the time of writing.

Monitoring of the nestcams and Bakethin has found no evidence of Ospreys.

There is a new nestcam on Nest 2. This is where we hope Yellow 37 and his unringed female will appear soon.

Kielder Castle Café is now showing live footage from Nest 1 and Nest 2. It is still a few days before the earliest ever sighting of one of the Kielder breeding birds but some UK breeding Ospreys have arrived back at their nests early. So if you are visiting Kielder watch the skies – especially near the dam which is a favourite hunting area – and check out the nestcams.

Various technical problems preclude live streaming from Kielder nests. But our Nest 1 and Nest 2 males were born at Glasyn which has a superb online feed 24/7.  This is the link, Nest 1 White YA and Nest 2 Yellow 37’s mother should return very soon.
