Is VY nearing her winter home?

Late this afternoon data arrived for VY’s travel since she reached Senegal late on 15 September. On 16 September she set off on a rather more SE course than seemed desirable, so after nearly two flying days where would she be? The answer is under 70 km from Kaolack and a wintering ‘hotspot’ on the coast to the west, Parc National du Delta du Saloum.

That last fix was 15.11 UTC. There’ll be more tomorrow about some interesting aspects of her journey the past two days, but for now here is an overview of her route since yesterday morning.

And look out for more about 15.00 UTC – the green fix in the next image of her route yesterday.
