Ringing at Nest 2

The two chicks at Nest 2 were ringed this morning. Mrs 37 was alone with them when the team arrived.

The chicks had eaten earlier so we’d expected 37 would not be far away but he didn’t make an appearance until well after the event when he appeared with another fish! The chicks were healthy and took some interest in what was happening at ground level. Chick 1 now bears a blue Darvic ring with white letters VS. She weighed in at 1880g.

The second chick, another female, weighed 1750g and she has ring Blue VM.

The rings were chosen by Robson Green who was being filmed by a cameraman for his new series of ‘Tales from Northumberland’ which will be screened late in the year. As the team left the area Mrs 37 ended her patrol.

Within an hour or so the chicks were tucking in to the new fish.
