All is well on Nest 3

A download of footage from Nest 3 on Saturday found no evidence of a visit by the Lake District Osprey Project’s Number 14; that would have been very lucky with only a couple of short periods of recording each day.

The chicks are making good progress. Quite a few feeding episodes continue to be caught by the nestcam! This image is from 30 June. The male often stays on the nest during feeding.

The eldest chick is near in age to Chick 1 on Nest 2 and on 1 July the wing flapping exercise looked very similar – a bit unsteady!

On 2 July the chicks had already eaten when recording started at 08.00 and the female was having her meal as they slept. As the male neared the nest the chicks perked up but he was coming to take the fish for himself, not provide more!
