Osprey Watch Report: 9 August

Unfortunately copying/pasting isn’t functioning on wordpress at the moment, so a summary of the Osprey Watch Report follows.

The team of Christine, Neil and Paul fielded 193 visitors from various parts of the UK and overseas including India. One visitor had seen an osprey hunting from the Osprey ferry, lucky person. Another had returned from Florida recently and had witnessed an osprey catch a fish which was then stolen by a Bald Eagle! He had a photo of the event.

Quite a lot of action was visible through the scopes with ospreys visible in the trees around the nest site and flying in the nest area as well as on the nest some of the time.

From the viewpoint an osprey was sighted above nearby trees, then it flew down towards the water just behind them.

The team reported 12 other bird and 2 butterfly species as well as the usual rabbits!
