Fresh fish for lunch on Nest 2!

Here is a link to a video of a Nest 2  feed on Saturday at about 17.00, after Mrs 37 had spent several hours protecting her chicks.

Although the forecast was for heavy showers at Kielder on Sunday in fact it was dry, warm and mostly sunny until mid afternoon.

When the nestcam stream started Mrs 37 was mainly sitting on the chicks although she stood off at times. Probably the chicks had fed not long before because they were pretty zonked out!

The first meal on camera didn’t arrive until about 12.20, but it was worth the wait.

37 also had a meal in private after Mrs 37 had her share by the chicks. He brought the fish back and there were three short top ups by 13.45. It was all too much for the chick on the right!

At about 14.00 37 landed to take the fish; Mrs 37 held onto it, but offered him morsels before feeding the chicks again.

The showers arrived and until nearly 16.00 Mrs 37 sheltered the chicks. It faired up and she preened until 37 landed with another good meal.

37 had eaten on the edge after flying in, although was very alert and Mrs 37 looked around too. After 37 had finished Mrs 37 ate a few mouthfuls then it was back to the chicks with tea.
