Regular readers of this blog will know that a Nest 1 born female, Blue 35, who hatched in 2010, is in South Cumbria nesting on a Cumbria Wildlife Trust CWT) reserve, Foulshaw Moss, with a male from Bassenthwaite. The CWT have kindly shared some shots from their camera for us to use on this blog. Many thanks to them; it is wonderful to have these shots of the first known Kielder born osprey to breed.
The first pre-dates egg laying and was taken soon after her arrival on about 6 April. Good of her to show off the ring so well!
The second image is from 5 May when the pair are almost certainly incubating; any eggs are too deep in the nest to be seen. In the shot, Blue 35 is having a preen whilst the male does the hard work, although he is snoozing at the same time!
