More on Mrs 37s return

After the excitement of the first reunion between 37 and the female believed to be Mrs 37, his long term mate, the rest of the day on Nest 2 was a bit dull. Reviewing the video footage it looks like the first mating attempt was a success; she was receptive to him immediately. You can see the clip here. So despite the forehead markings looking slightly different, the behaviour both before and during  37s arrival suggests it is indeed Mrs 37.

After she had gone off with the fish, 37 was on and off the nest for a couple of hours or so, nestorising (he is now at stomach level in the cup, we’ll never see the eggs!) and sitting on the nest edge looking out. Sadly she did not return before the end of streaming and 37 too had not been seen for a couple of hours. There is an area of young conifers where they sit sometimes, so perhaps they were chatting ‘off camera’!

Here are a couple of images showing how deep the Nest 2 cup is – and 37 working hard at the world record for deepest cup!

fantastic news and both nests paired. I think Yellow 37 special as first born at Glaslyn and amazing 2 brothers at Kielder. Thank you Joanna and let the season begin :)
