Is it her? Almost certainly!

When the nestcams started streaming at Kielder Castle Cafe on Saturday a new osprey was on Nest 2! She looks very like the original female but her head markings are slightly different. She acted as if she owned the nest, nestorizing for a while and sitting on the edge almost dozing. There was no sign of 37 or White EB. For just over 1.5 hours she was on her own, then 37 flew in with a fish! No sooner had she accepted it than he tried to mate. Following that distraction, she flew off with her meal. After a brief disappearance 37 came back and started more moss re-arranging and cup scraping. It is almost certainly his long term mate even though he isn’t averse to passing females. Will White EB try and win him round? Or is that ‘goodbye’ to her as it was with his two ‘girlfriends’ last year as soon as Mrs 37 returned?

Wonderful news from Glaslyn about 37 and YA’s parents’ today – the first known UK egg is theirs, at about 10.10.

Here are a couple of images from this morning.
