THREE CHEERS, WHITE YA IS BACK!!!

On yet another misty day the legs of a landing osprey on Nest 1 were a particularly welcome sight, because on the white ring the letters weren’t EB but YA. Definitely cause for celebration, even more so after yesterday.

He chased away something off screen (Yellow 37 perhaps) and then his mate from last year probably heaved a sigh of relief given her experience yesterday of Yellow 37 flying off her nest with a fish. Here was her osprey, things will be OK now! Edit: but it wasn’t last year’s female after all, so this one must have been thrilled that there is a male on the nest!

The pair have been together on the nest; White YA has even done a bit of nest cup scraping.

No sign of White EB yet today. Now we hope Yellow 37’s mate will return. Yellow 37 is standing waiting for her (or any female!) in his ever deeper nest cup on Nest 2.

Special thanks to Amy at Kielder Castle Cafe for capturing the moment. Video later.
