Initially it was misty and humid, so Nest 1 was hard to see through the scopes. By the afternoon the weather was very pleasant and viewing much improved – just as well with about 250 visitors over the day!
Unfortunately for them there was little action visible on the nestcam screen, just a spell of Blue 6H on the nest mid afternoon although mostly in that hidden spot! And a later appearance about 16.00.
However, through the scopes and with binoculars, in addition to Blue 6H some visitors saw a couple of ‘fly pasts’ by an osprey, or perhaps two, on both occasions heading from Kielder towards the dam at different parts of the day. And around midday two ospreys were flying around the nest area.
Many of the visitors were families, some were from the Calvert Trust, some had been yesterday too. Their interest in the ospreys, even when there isn’t a lot to see, is a great reward for the volunteers.
Last chance tomorrow to visit Osprey Watch this season!
