Osprey Watch Report: 7 August 2013

It was a very windless and calm day at Kielder Water for Osprey Watch on Wednesday. The reservoir was mirror-like, but only one hunting osprey was sighted by the team and it was probably from Nest 2.

On Nest 1, the activity can be summed up as ‘eat, flop, flap’! With more of the first two activities. A couple of fish were delivered during the day and Blue 6H was fed by Mrs YA and sometimes ‘self-served’.

Both adults were on trees near the nest for long periods so the 130 visitors were able to see the family. Some visitors were from near Peebles, where the Tweed Valley Ospreys are their local ‘fix’, but they had made the trip to Kielder to see ours too. A Scout party was amongst other interested observers.
