Playing to an audience?

After Osprey Watch on Sunday, when Mrs YA didn’t convince the nestcam viewers or even those using the spotting scopes that she was doing what was necessary for her chick, on Monday she was pretty good again! As was YA, who in addition to an early fish provided another (or possibly brought back the uneaten part) at lunchtime.

The weather was cooler and a breeze will have made conditions in the nest more pleasant. Apart from periods when it slumped with a very full crop the chick was more active and did some stick, moss and bark fiddling. Mrs YA left the nest a few times to bring back more of the above. On the whole she dropped them on top of the chick, but not the largest piece of dead tree, fortunately! She spent a while in a tree near the nest but wasn’t away as long as on Sunday afternoon.

The chick is growing more osprey like each day with the feathers showing more, but it is on its haunches still, not its feet.

Unfortunately the Nest 2 link refused to co-operate.

Here are some Nest 1 images, as usual click to enlarge.
