On edge!

Another hot day at Kielder on Thursday so not a lot of nest action. The Nest 2 link worked briefly but the chicks were basking rather than showing off their new adornments, the Darvic rings!

On Nest 1 Mrs YA deserves a round of applause for the diligent sheltering she gave the chick today, although perhaps she shouldn’t do it quite so near the edge of the nest! She was on the nest most of the time the nestcam was streaming, flying off rarely – and one of those trips was to collect some fish from YA in the tree nearby. (A great capture by Amy from Kielder Castle Cafe below.) Not much food is being consumed but the heat may be a factor. Fishing should be quite easy and some other osprey sites have noted less feeding too. The chick looks well despite the high temperatures.
