Mad Monday!

The chick on Nest 1 caused much mirth when the nestcam stream started because it had….. not sure what, mad half hour (over 5 minutes actually), signs of sunstroke, attention seeking tactic to get mum back? Whatever the reason it twirled, toppled over and got back up and generally went round in circles at high speed. Still images cannot do it justice so a short video is here. (I’ve spotted my error on the title page and will correct tomorrow!)

YA also seemed affected by the mood, bringing in a new fish when most of his previous delivery was still uneaten. On the whole, Mrs YA was rather better behaved in contrast. She sheltered the chick by standing shading it, seldom left the nest and fed it fairly promptly when asked. The chick is looking so much more lively, and vey full too!

However that ‘good behaviour’ by Mrs YA didn’t last forever and the chick got smacked and then pinned in a corner by an unwieldy stick. A video of that will be available tomorrow.

Unfortunately the Nest 2 stream wasn’t working until very late in the day and then the smeary screen precluded seeing much.

One Response to Mad Monday!

  1. I loved that video floor show. What a lively chick – it made me tired just watching!
