A cool and windy day

July, are you sure?! At Kielder it was as cool and windy as an early Spring day. It didn’t stop Mrs YA from leaving the chick on it’s own for 25 minutes whilst she sat on a nearby tree before going to fetch a stick. YA was present on another tree for part of the time. The chick had fed earlier and it is growing, but Nest 2’s Mrs 37 would never have left hers uncovered that long at a couple of weeks old!

The Nest 1 chick is still more or less confined to the egg cup area although it is undertaking more ‘scrabbling up the slope’ exercises. Its feet are starting to look outsize for its body.

Unfortunately the Nest 2 nestcam refused to co-operate again so no marvelling at the three young ospreys’ progress today.
