Uneventful on Nest 1 too

On Thursday there was as little action on Nest 1 as on Nest 2. There were a few instances of possible feeding by Mrs YA. However hard we tried, the chick(s) are still too small to allow us to see a head straining skyward! Like Mrs 37, Mrs YA stood to the side on another warm day. She also preened herself.

YA was around on and off as has been his habit since the egg(s) hatched. Initially on a tree, he was down on the nest edge soon after 11.00 watching Mrs YA feeding the chick(s).  Shortly after he seemed to take over the chore. By 11.30 brunch was over and YA had flown off. Mrs YA had a short flight but was soon back. She settled on the nest whilst YA came to the tree behind the nest.

These calm and warm days are forecast to end. Hopefully the recent fine weather will stand the small offspring on Nest 1 in good stead over the next few days of rain.

I do hope we don’t get a repeat of last year. The nest 2 checks look quite strong but the nest 1 chicks are so much smaller.
