Sun and sleep!

On Nest 2 on Tuesday afternoon the chicks mostly slept in the sun. The older two were awake more often than chick 3 and were panting on and off. Mrs 37 was standing to the side preening and one waddled over to shelter under her body. Both the elder chicks have now mastered ‘the haunch walk’ and get across the nest quite quickly. Their feet look too large for their bodies!

There were a couple of instances of pecks delivered to chick 3, one from each of the elder two. Mrs 37 was there but didn’t react. Nor did chick 3 very much!

One Response to Sun and sleep!

I know that it is natural behaviour but I am always glad when the sibling-pecking period of their lives is over. Thankfully, with their dad being such a good provider of fish, it doesn’t assume more serious levels where they are literally fighting for survival. Keep up the good work 37!
